As of December 31, 2007, most of the consumer tax credits expired.

You have until April 15, 2008 to report these credits on your 2007 taxes. Legislation to extend the tax credits was proposed in December 2007, but did not pass both houses of Congress. Congressional leadership has said they will look for opportunities to move this legislation in 2008.

Thinking about upgrading your heating and/or air conditioning equipment? The Energy Policy Act of 2005 allows for tax credits and tax deductions for installation and use of several different energy efficient products and technologies, including tax incentives for consumers, businesses, home builders, appliance manufacturers, and commercial buildings.

Tax credits for home owners apply to improvements made to a primary residence from January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008.
