If your home feels too humid in summer or too dry in winter, Associated Heating & Air can help by installing either a dehumidifier or humidifier in Anaheim, CA.
These systems help to provide your ideal relative humidity (RH) throughout the entire home rather than in particular rooms. It helps you to be healthier and feel more comfortable. Humidity control can also make your HVAC system more efficient and help to save on equipment wear and tear.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns against letting your RH go above 60% in summer. At this point, your home is prone to mold, dust mites and a higher concentration of other allergens. The ideal setting varies from person to person, but the EPA recommends between 30% and 50%.
Achieving 50% RH with air conditioning alone is often difficult. If you can’t, then we recommend dehumidification. We’ll generally install it in line with your HVAC equipment but ahead of your AC’s evaporator coil. This way, the air is drier before it gets to your AC, which makes it more efficient.
Another advantage of a whole-house dehumidifier is that it will have its own condensate drain line. This allows it to drain outside the home automatically. You won’t have to worry about dumping the moisture out as you would with a room unit.
If you struggle to maintain 30% RH in winter, then we recommend humidification. The air is naturally drier in the cooler months. That can be further exacerbated inside your home as a byproduct of heating it.
A whole-house humidifier connects to your plumbing system. That means you never have to worry about filling it. We’ll position it after your furnace or heat pump so that it adds the moisture before the air reaches your vents.
A common question we get is whether you need both systems, and the answer is not necessarily. We’ll only recommend both if you have trouble reaching the EPA-recommended levels in both winter and summer.
